Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement in response to reports that the United States may shift military and intelligence resources to assist Russia as part of the Syria ceasefire deal made with the Russian Federation.
"It's difficult to believe that after five years of civil war in Syria, five years of seemingly perpetual human suffering, and five years of compromising America's interests in the Middle East -- this is the course of action that President Obama chose to take. Vladimir Putin has convinced America to shift resources away from other military theaters where our forces are already under strain and acquiesce to Russia's objectives in Syria. This is yet another consequence of President Obama's tendency to give our adversaries the upper hand and negotiate from a position of weakness."
