Washington, D.C. - Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement after the Treasury Department sanctioned 19 Russians for interfering with the 2016 election and launching cyber-attacks against the United States:

"This latest round of sanctions is necessary to counter Russia's concerted campaign of aggression against us and our allies. As events in the U.K. have shown, Vladimir Putin is trying to put the West on the defensive, and he doesn't much care whether he puts innocent lives at risk. The only proper response to an aggressor is strength and clarity, and that's why I support the administration for imposing these sanctions today. Now, we ought to work with the U.K. and all of our allies to impose even more boundaries on Russia's reckless behavior."
