Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on the parliamentary elections in Burma:
"The elections in Burma were a historic and heartening step in the nation's movement toward constitutional democracy. I congratulate the people of Burma, but understand that much work remains to strengthen the country's institutions of democracy and to ensure that the government is truly representative of its people. The flourishing of Burma's democracy and economy is a national interest of the United States, and I will continue to urge strong suport for the Burmese people as they undertake the hard work that lies ahead."
