Washington, D.C. - Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement in response to the United States International Trade Commission's rulings regarding steel trade:

"I commend the International Trade Commission for its ruling that recognizes that China has been subsidizing its steel industry at the expense of Americans. Arkansas and American steel workers are the best in the world, and there is no country they can't compete with. This decision sends a message that all countries, including China, must play by the same trade rules and will benefit Arkansas steel workers."

Background: The International Trade Commission recently concluded in two unanimous decisions that the steel industry in the United States has been "materially injured" by imports of cold-rolled flat steel from China and Japan, as well as coated flat-rolled steel from China, India, Italy, South Korea, and Taiwan.
