Cotton Statement on Sweden Joining NATO

Washington, D.C. — Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement after Finland formally joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO): 

“I’m proud to welcome Sweden as our latest NATO ally. Sweden is a strategically located economic and industrial powerhouse that will add muscle and key geographic advantages to the alliance. Sweden’s recent doubling of defense spending and dedication to reach NATO’s 2% GDP spending demonstrates their serious commitment to the alliance. With NATO now in control of the Baltic Sea, today is a bad day for the Russian Navy and a good day for the United States and our allies.”
