Washington, D.C.— Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement in response to President Obama's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2016:

"President Obama still isn't listening. Why else would he propose more taxes, more spending, and more government regulation at a time when Arkansans and Americans have said through the ballot box that they are desperate for the opposite? And this budget would be a disaster for our state economy. If President Obama had his way, Arkansans would see the Estate Tax increase by nearly 50 percent. Family farms across Arkansas—like the one that's been in my family for over 100 years—would be lost.  Arkansans deserve a budget that helps the economy work for them rather than a budget that allows Washington to take from them.  And all Americans should demand from Washington a budget that is serious about reducing the debt and deficit that threatens our nation's economic security and not a budget that threatens our national security.

"Congress should pass a budget that reflects the same basic principle most Arkansans follow: don't spend more than you take in. Rest assured, my colleagues and I are committed to making sure President Obama's budget stops here. We will work to pass a balanced budget that puts Arkansas and America on a path to economic prosperity and that ensures the safety and security of every American."
