Washington, D.C.-Senator Tom Cotton (R-Washington) today released the following statement on Iran's verdict against American citizen and Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian:
"I strongly condemn Iran's guilty verdict against Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian. The accusations against him are a sham and are just another example of the rogue regime with which we're dealing.
"The immediate release of Jason Rezaian and the three other American hostages should have been a precondition of any deal reached with Iran. Instead, President Obama prioritized reaching a deal for his own legacy over the health and safety of American citizens. The Iran nuclear deal put all our chips on the table in exchange for nothing. I fear Iran has little incentive to allow the release of Jason and his fellow hostages. President Obama and Secretary Kerry must address their safety immediately.
