Washington, D.C. - Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement in honor of national Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

"Martin Luther King Jr. once wrote that ‘one day the South will recognize its real heroes.' And today we recognize him as one of those heroes. Dr. King eloquently defended the moral basis of our founding principles-our freedom is based on our natural equality before God. He spread what he called ‘the gospel of freedom' not only with speeches that still ring in our ears, but also by the force of his example. And so today, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., we continue to strive for liberty and justice for all."
