Cotton Statement in Response to President Obama's Comments on ISIS at the Pentagon

July 6, 2015

Washington, D.C.—Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement in response to President Obama's comments on ISIS at the Pentagon:

"Just weeks after President Obama admitted we lacked a complete strategy to combat ISIS, he's now touting his efforts against the group. But his rhetoric doesn't match reality. Over the last year, ISIS has expanded its reach exponentially—and the group's influence continues to grow. Currently we're relying on Iran—the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world—to shoulder the majority of the burden in the fight, allowing the ayatollahs to expand their malign regional influence. Worse, it was President Obama's delusion about ISIS that brought us to this point in the first place. We're not going to defeat a radical jihadist army with more bureaucrats in DC and no funding for our military on the front lines. It's time for the President to acknowledge reality and make the hard decisions required to defeat ISIS once and for all."
