Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement in response to reports the Army is lying to Congress about the Distributed Common Ground System-Army (DCGS-A):

"The recently released depositions of senior uniformed Army officers seem to indicate the Army sought to deliberately deceive Congress about DCGS-A and the viability of commercial alternatives. Now well into it's second decade, DCGS-A has wasted billions of valuable procurement dollars and distracted the Army from more important issues.

"DCGS-A does not deliver a working, reliable data management architecture. The Army should forgo development of the program for units at division and below, select a solution from one of the many capable commercial companies, and prioritize deploying a viable data management architecture that is sustainable, uses open data formats, and can be delivered immediately. Only after the Army achieves this task should it consider a more complex expansion of the program."
