Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on Arkansas Baptist College's designation as a Federal Depository Library:
"I am pleased to hear that the Secretary of Documents at the Government Publishing Office has taken action to designate the J.C. Oliver Library at Arkansas Baptist College as a Federal Depository Library, and subsequently a part of the Federal Depository Library Program. This facility is an important institution and I know the facility will benefit from access to federal government documents provided by this program."
Background: In August, Senator Cotton sent a letter to the Government Publishing Office supporting the J.C. Oliver Library at Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas request to become a Federal Depository Library, as authorized by the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). An educational institution officially recognized as a depository library under the FDLP is granted electronic access to federal government documents for public use, as well as specialized training for library staff.
