Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on the Senate passage of GMO labeling legislation:

"Today the Senate rightly passed common-sense legislation that gives consumers necessary information on their food products, but also prevents the regulatory tidal wave that would have raised the price of food dramatically-an increase that working families and Arkansans on fixed incomes simply can't afford. Arkansans have been taking care of themselves and their families for generations. We don't need Vermont politicians, anti-science liberals, or any other state dictating food labeling practices for our state or the rest of the country. This is an important victory for Arkansas farmers and Arkansas food producers, who are no longer at risk of being sued in Vermont courts over labeling issues. I'm pleased this passed the Senate and hope that the House can move quickly to pass this compromise and send it to the President's desk."
