Washington, D.C.- Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) today released the following statement on the World Anti-Doping Agency's findings of widespread, systemic doping among Russian national athletes:

"The reports of systemic doping by Russian athletes-promoted by the Russian government-are an egregious insult to all athletes who train diligently and play by the rules, but aren't surprising since Russia is a KGB state led by a KGB spy. International athletic competition has long been an important tool of diplomacy for the United States and countries around the world. The sportsmanship, dedication, and patriotism of so many athletes has allowed countries to temporarily set aside differences and come together in competition and celebration. We must preserve the integrity of these athletic events by demanding fairness and transparency. It's clear little has changed in Putin's Russia since the days of the Soviet Union."
