Washington, D.C. - Following the announcement of an executive order that authorizes the Commerce Secretary to block transactions involving communications technologies built by firms controlled by a foreign adversary that put the United States at "unacceptable" risk, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement:

"Chinese telecom companies like Huawei effectively serve as an intelligence-gathering arm of the Chinese Communist Party, and the administration is right to restrict the use of their products. Chinese components remain a Trojan horse for telecommunications infrastructure around the globe, and the Department of Commerce should deny their adoption entirely."
