Click here to access the 2019 Service Academy Application. We will begin accepting applications on August 1, 2019.
Each year I have the honor of nominating qualified young men and women to attend our nation's five (5) service academies. In order to gain admission to one of the academies candidates must apply directly to the Academy and apply for a Congressional Nomination. These appointments are offered to individuals who meet eligibility requirements and are the most competitive in academic performance, physical fitness, medical standards, extracurricular involvement, leadership traits, motivation and aptitude for military service. After graduation cadets and midshipmen are obligated to serve in the military for five years. Please note that you do not need a Congressional Nomination for the United States Coast Guard Academy. Please contact Nicole Millar (501) 223-9081 if you have any additional questions.
In order to be considered for a nomination, all candidates must submit the following materials by Friday, November 1, 2019.
- Online Application and Questionnaire
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- Official High School Transcript and College Transcripts (if applicable)
- Official SAT/ACT Scores
Candidates who wish to apply for a nomination must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 17 years of age, but not older than 23 by July 1 of the year of admission.
- Be a United States Citizen.
- Be a Legal Arkansas Resident.
- Be unmarried and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

Applying to Academies
You are encouraged to apply early to any and all service academies for which you have a sincere interest. You may apply online at the respective service academy website. You should return all requested materials as directed by the academy as quickly as possible. If you are considered an "official" candidate by the academy, you will be scheduled for a medical examination by the Department of Defense Medical Review Board (DODMERB). You will also complete a Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA).
Service academy applicants are eligible for nomination by both United States Senators in the state of their legal residence and the United States Representative for the District in which they reside as well as the Vice President. Applicants should apply for nomination to all four nominating sources. Click here for the nomination application form for my office.
Each United States Senator may have no more than five (5) people attending each service academy at any given time. For each vacancy, ten nominations may be submitted to the respective service academy admissions office.
